AKU blocks corn from Serbia again, 75 tons of cargo stopped in Han i Hotit

The National Food Authority (AKU) in Shkodra has once again blocked a significant amount of corn imported from Serbia.
This time it is about 75 tons of corn, detained at the Hani i Hoti customs, for the purpose of conducting laboratory analyses. Just a few days ago, from the same exporting entity, the AKU had detained 25 tons of corn, bringing the total quantity blocked so far to 100 tons.
According to the announcement by the Shkodra AKU, the controls were undertaken to determine whether the product contains high levels of aflatoxin B1, a toxic and carcinogenic substance that may exceed the permitted norms in Albania.
Meanwhile, authorities have also blocked a farm in the village of Trush, after the traceability system revealed that it was being supplied with livestock corn by a subject detained at customs.
However, if the presence of prohibited substances is confirmed, these goods will not be allowed to enter Albanian territory.
