"They will have good salaries"/ Ambassador Bucci reveals how many

Italian Ambassador Fabrizio Bucci says that the Gjadri camp will bring many benefits to local residents as jobs will be created within this structure. Bucci in an interview for the media, says that the employees near this camp will have good salaries and it will be the same chain where the whole area will benefit.

Part of the interview:
Fevziu:  Staying with this discussion before we go further. Of course, this center will operate for 5 years.

Fevziu:  How many Italians will be here, I mean they will rent houses, the people who will work here, their economic treatment?

Bucci:  There are several hundred because all the personnel who will manage the camp, i.e. the police, carabinieri, administrative officials, lawyers, judges, doctors, nurses, the personnel who will manage the small prison, so there will be several hundred people. Currently, there are about 250 people who are permanent staff.

Fevziu:  From the beginning, there are 250 personnel who are fixed personnel.

Bucci:  Yes, because this is a center that is already working, it started working about 10 days ago and is ready to welcome future immigrants.

Fevziu:  How many Albanians will work here? How much will you need?

Bucci:  We're talking about hundreds.

Fevziu:  Hundreds who will be locals?

Bucci:  They will mostly be local to the area, because all the meal preparation, we're talking about thousands of meals every day, and these will be done by local firms that will prepare the meals. For example, also in terms of cleaning the center, transport, mediators, translators...will be local personnel.

Fevziu:  Which means that this area here will receive a development that it did not expect.

Bucci:  There will be great development, because we are talking about a 5-year period and with tens of millions of euros spent by Italy, without taking into account all the related activities, because we have here, for example, a company from Lezha that produces food meals. The company from Lezha must buy meat, fish, fruits, vegetables... So, it is a local company and all the suppliers of the local company, so it is set in motion....

Fevziu:  Yes, it will be the same chain...

Bucci:  Yes, a very wide chain that will include the entire area.

Fevziu:  What about the people who will work here, will they be paid well?

Bucci:  Yes, they will have good salaries.

Fevziu:  And this is very important. Let's go back to the camp now because it is safe for the people of the area. I saw your engineers working here with the natives.

Bucci:  Of course, they help them, because of course we have many neighbors here. Many residents of Lezha or the Gjadri area and for us it is important to have good neighborly relations and we have given them a hand these months. Who needed, for example, to dig a well, who needed a little help, we have offered them, without sparing.

Fevziu:  It is very interesting, because when I came here, in November, it seems to me, at the beginning of November, almost a year ago, the people around the Gjadri military base were somewhat afraid of what was happening, while now I have asked them and they are more satisfied with the economic benefits they will have above all.

Bucci:  An extraordinary job has been done here, because here we dug two wells for water supply. The water used here is the one we get from underground, so it is not from outside. We have made a new electrical connection, as this is a center that consumes a lot of energy, so we have made a significant investment of millions of euros to strengthen the electrical network. We have implemented the water and sewage system, of course applying the Italian legislation. We cannot build anything unless it is according to the rules of the European Union.
