New EU funds for Albania, North Macedonia and Montenegro! Our country receives the first tranche of 99.3 million euros

The European Commission has allocated funds to Albania, Montenegro and North Macedonia as part of the EU's growth plan for the Western Balkans.
Payments are made in several stages, based on the reforms these countries have implemented to adapt to EU standards.
Albania will receive the first tranche of 99.3 million euros , of which 46.2 million euros will be paid directly to the state budget, while the rest will support infrastructure projects through the Western Balkans Investment Framework (WBIF).
Montenegro will receive the second tranche of 8.1 million euros, including 3.8 million euros that will go directly to the state budget and the rest for infrastructure projects through the WBIF.
North Macedonia will receive the second tranche of 16 million euros , with 7.4 million euros directed to the state budget and the rest for infrastructure projects through the WBIF.
Following approval by the WBIF Board, these funds will support infrastructure projects in sectors such as sustainable transport, clean energy, digital and human capital development, in close cooperation with Western Balkan partners and international financial institutions.
Since the launch of the Western Balkans Growth Plan, the total amounts disbursed amount to 99.3 million euros for Albania, 18.3 million euros for Montenegro and 25 million euros for North Macedonia.
The Growth Plan fosters the enlargement partners' preparations for EU membership, bringing benefits before full integration, which accelerates the enlargement process and the growth of their economies.
Also, Albania, Montenegro and North Macedonia, along with Moldova, are the first EU candidate partners to join the Single Euro Payments Area (SEPA) schemes.
A historic development, according to the Commission, that will make transactions in euros between these four partners and the European Union safer, faster and cheaper, with a potential saving of up to 500 million euros for citizens and businesses.
"Today we celebrate the concrete results that our ongoing efforts for the gradual integration of candidate countries are bringing to their citizens and businesses. Our work does not stop here," said EU Commissioner for Enlargement, Marta Kos.
