The village of Piskovë in Përmet coexists with the waste landfill, the
Residents of the village of Piskovë, only 8 kilometers from Përmet, have been protesting against the urban waste landfill, which is located very close to the protected park of Hotova, for three years.

While this landfill has finished the contract, it was built on a water source that supplies the residents.

The mayor of the Piskova village told the show "Fol" that at first they told him that there would be a pit where garbage was thrown, and at that time they gathered as a community and had a meeting with the mayor Alma Hoxha.

"They told us it will be built with protective layers from the ground, there will be no contact with the ground. Garbage is in contact with drinking water. The garbage is located between the two national parks Bredhi i Hotova and the river Vjosë. The village has nearly 300 inhabitants. When it was dug and there was opposition, they could no longer work because the water began to flow. Then they compressed it again, covered it.

We took the case to court, the decision was given secretly in the Administrative Court. There was not even a public hearing. The mayor came and made a provisional meeting in the administrative unit. Nor has an environmental permit been obtained. The project has not been implemented properly, the garbage will be thrown away, they will be compacted with a roller, they are provisional, trees will be planted and they will not be thrown away again. At first they were told only 8 months will be thrown away, no more. It has been three years and it seems that they will not be removed again. The mayor promised that we will talk soon. They set it on fire to free the country. Why didn't they pave them with rollers? I ask to raise my word in the parliament, to close the pit of death.

If one of the children comes down with a bad disease, who is primarily responsible? That in the heat these particles disintegrate in the air. We do not consume tap water, it is contaminated. Lumica is the main feeder of the spring where the village gets water, this is a murderous policy. Godfather signed it when he became minister. This was done since that minister came. We have not been shown the project. We are in danger of an epidemic. We experienced four days of smoke when the garbage was set on fire, in the morning it was worse. We will take the petition with the signatures to SPAK to close this issue. I want to raise the issue in parliament. If they do not react, SPAK will have the last word. I call on the Prime Minister to come and have a meeting in the community. I would like him to come and see the situation closely. I hear it and I welcome it. If no main instance gives me an answer, I will ask for it in parliament, in SPAK and all.

I that seal will deliver that I can not continue with this group of people who are structured. That I can't side with those people. They know very well a part of the instances that remain silent, that we are right. That area is touristic. I appeal to the Prime Minister, can he pave that road to be developed? The Frashri brothers gave everything, why are they afraid to raise the cradle of knowledge."

A resident raised concerns about the lack of transparency while accusing MP Mirela Kumbaro of avoiding responsibility and only going for propaganda.

"He only comes to distribute membership cards. It is the entrance to the national park. This road should have been extended here, there should have been other economic development in this area. This area floods in winter, garbage is in the river bed. Many tourists pass here. They come from all over Albania for pilgrimage to Ali Postivan's shrine. The road is maintained by the father of the child. Here, the state has been dead for 30 years, left and right completely, they have the same blood."

Another resident said that a few days ago they set fire to the garbage, creating asphyxiation and dense smoke in the area.

"I'm afraid to drink the water from the tap. No matter how many times we have raised it as a concern, no one listens, they just take the money. Why don't those from the municipality come, just to get the money? They don't solve anything for us. The day the smoke started I woke up at 2 am. We closed the doors and windows, but the smoke still came in."
