Couple from Vlora in the open air, apartment burned down by fire: We are asking for help, we slept outside last night

With blackened walls, charred furniture, no doors or windows, this is the condition of the apartment of the Shametaj couple from Vlora, which was engulfed in flames at noon on November 16. As can be seen from the footage provided to News24 by cameraman Marjus Seiti, the home of the two elderly people has become uninhabitable.
The elderly couple live in the former soda factory neighborhood in Vlora, and in deep sadness they claim that they were unable to save anything. At the time the fire broke out, both husband and wife were in the yard, while 79-year-old Jorgo Shametaj tried to get inside amidst the flames, but his wife stopped him.
Jorgo and Myrvete Shametaj say that the pension they receive does not reach the value of 30 thousand lek per month, so they are unable to renovate their apartment themselves. The two elderly people say that in the fight for survival they only have each other, so they appeal for help.
According to the elderly, the cause of the fire in their apartment was an electrical spark, while the investigation team continues to investigate the case.
