Italy/ Albanian attempts to blow up building with gas cylinders

A serious incident was recorded this evening in Acate, Italy, where an Albanian citizen held the residents of a building hostage for several dozen minutes, threatening to blow it up with gas canisters.

According to Italian media, the Albanian – who is suspected of suffering from mental health problems – became aggressive and began threatening those present. The situation caused panic among residents of the area, who immediately notified the police.

Carabinieri forces arrived at the scene, where it took the intervention of six officers to neutralize the perpetrator and hand him over to the emergency medical service.
