Officers from Police Station No. 3 in Tirana have escorted 61-year-old Leonard Nikolli, after he went to the offices of the IMT Tirana this afternoon, threatening the life of the institution's director, Klajdi Meçi. The latter has also filed a police report, claiming that Nikolli threatened to kill him and that he had a weapon.
Sources indicate that Nikolli said as soon as he entered the institution: "I am armed, where is the director or I will kill him?".
IMT has reacted to the incident, stating that it condemns any act of threat or pressure against employees while performing their duties.
"The Inspectorate of Territorial Protection condemns any act of threat or pressure against employees during the performance of their duties.
In relation to today's event, where Mr. Klajdi Meçi was threatened, we clarify that IMT acts in accordance with the law and legal decisions in force.
IMT will continue with professionalism and integrity in protecting the public interest and citizens, without stopping in the face of the occupation of public spaces, until every space belonging to citizens is freed," the reaction states.
