"We are few judges and many cases", the touching story of the relative of judge Astrit Kalaja, shows his concern: The work is becoming tiring

The murder of Judge Astrit Kalaja, inside the courtroom as he delivered his verdict, has shocked public opinion and raised questions about the safety of magistrates in the country.
A relative of Astrit Kalasa, Lira Parruca, spoke exclusively for the show "Top Story" with Grida Duma, about whom she says she has handled difficult issues, but with professionalism and justice.
She also recounted her last conversation with him, who, among other things, expressed concern that 'there are too many files and too few judges', telling her that he felt tired from work.
"Titi, as I have always called him – I experienced it very hard. I was shocked, I was shocked… but I believe that everyone who heard this news felt the same. Because you can't help but be shocked by the loss of a man like him, and even more so by the painful way it happened.
Even today, every day that passes, it still seems unbelievable to me. And perhaps those of us who live abroad experience this pain even more deeply – because we cannot be near our family, we cannot share it with others, we are left with tears inside us.
I have known Titi since I was born. He has always been there – part of our family, part of our joys, part of our memories. Since I started working at the Shkodra District Court, we became even closer, because he was not only a cousin, but also an extraordinary professional and human support.
He was a man who seemed like he had known you for a long time, even if you were meeting him for the first time. He was open, loving, full of humor, full of life. He had a great soul, an empathy that is rarely found. He was a man who would listen, understand, and help you without thinking twice.
In his profession, he was dedicated, serious and fair. Many people sought his opinion, because they knew that in Astrit they would find a man who knew the law, but also human justice. He handled difficult issues, but always with dignity and professionalism, respecting the law and people.
When we last met, in August of this year, he told me that the work had become very tiring. “We have few judges and many cases,” he told me. “I’m working dinners, weekends, even on holidays… I can’t rest at all.”
Even though he was tired, he didn't complain about himself – he just spoke responsibly, as always. He was a man who loved his work, and did it with passion and honesty.
His life was modest, but full of love. He was loved by everyone – colleagues, friends, Shkodra residents. Even though he worked in Tirana, his heart always beat for Shkodra. Every weekend he returned there, to the city he loved so much.
Titi had an artistic soul. He read a lot, he was sensitive, in love with beauty, with family, with life, with good people. He had an inner light that you felt as soon as you met him.
He left behind a wonderful family - his wife, who is very dear to me, a strong, wise and sensitive woman.
He left behind three children, three stars: the two adults, who are great professionals and extraordinary people, and the little girl, 15 years old – a wonderful girl who is shining like a ray of light.
This is a great loss. Not only for us, our family and friends, but for the entire society, for Shkodra, for justice, for this country that lost a man with so many values, with a great soul, with a pure heart.
"Astrit will always remain in our memory, in our hearts, as a man who gave love, justice and light. And I will always remember him as my beloved Titus - with his calm smile, with his gentle humor, with his good spirit that never fades," she says./ Top Channel
