Klodian Tomorri: Vlora Airport cannot start work as long as there is a fight

Journalist Klodian Tomorri, invited to the show "The Unexposed" on MCN TV, spoke about the Vlora airport, whose fate is now unknown, due to the conflict between shareholders and the investigations of the Prosecutor's Office.

Tomorri stated that the airport cannot begin operating, even if the runway and buildings are completed, as management is lacking, a deadlock that cannot be resolved as long as shareholders Behgjet Pacolli and Valon Ademi are in conflict.

"The first is the construction of the airport and then the commissioning. The airport is being built, but the issue is that it cannot be put into operation, due to the dispute between the shareholders. None of the companies that have the concession of the Vlora airport have the expertise to operate an airport. Pacolli has built airports, but has never managed an airport. It is one thing to build the runways and buildings and another thing to operate it. Therefore, when the airport was given a concession, the criterion was foreseen that the winning company should have the expertise of operation, management, so the Turk came in initially, had the papers and met the expertise criterion. Then the Turk left, but they had in the contract that someone else would have the management, since they knew from the beginning that the Turk would leave. Munich airport was rumored but there are reports that it has withdrawn.

The airport can be built, but as long as there is a dispute between the shareholders, it cannot start. A contract cannot be signed with the operator, there is no company that takes over the management of an airport when only one of the managers signs it, and secondly, a series of investments that are of a software nature cannot be made as long as there is a dispute between the two shareholders.

"There are some contracts related to software, for which the agreement of both parties is required. He says we will finish it in February, then whether or not the airport will start, this is unknown. If the conflict lasts a long time in the judicial processes, and a common language is not found, if they continue to have conflict and the process lasts for years, the airport risks never opening," declared Tomorri.
