KPA upholds the dismissal of judge Evjeni Sinojmeri

The Special Board of Appeal, KPA announced on Thursday, November 14, the decision to uphold the dismissal from office of Tirana Appeal judge, Evjeni Sinojmeri. The decision was taken unanimously by the panel of the College chaired by Albana Shtylla, with relator Sokol Çomon and members Ina Rama, Mimoza Tasi and Natasha Mulaj, after consideration in the advisory room of Sinojmer's appeal against the decision-making of the Independent Qualification Commission, KPK, which removed him from office.

KPK decided on April 30, 2021 to dismiss judge Evjeni Sinojmeri from office after problems were concluded in the wealth criterion. She received positive evaluation for her figure and professionalism.

Due to her unjustified absence for a long time, a disciplinary proceeding was initiated against her by the High Inspector of Justice, which was suspended until the end of the vetting process.

Evjeni Sinojmeri had a long career in the justice system, where she held the position of a member of the Supreme Court from 2001 to 2010. In the years 2011-2013, she worked as an advisor to the Minister of Justice and from 2013 she exercised her function at the Court of Appeal of Tirana.

In February 2018, Sinojmeri was separated from the exercise of the function after receiving a 2-year leave from KLD for temporary separation from duty. In March 2021, the Supreme Judicial Council rejected a request by the subject to extend the unpaid leave./ BIRN
