Bankers Petroleum oil workers go on hunger strike over working conditions
10 members of the Trade Union Steering Council of the company "Bankers Petroleum" in Fier have gone on an indefinite hunger strike at around 10:00 today. They express their determination to see their cause through to the end, while other employees are expected to join them in the coming days.

The hunger strike is organized by the Hydrocarbon Sector Union and comes after ongoing protests for wage increases and improved working conditions.

The strikers are determined to continue the strike until 'Bankers' initiates dialogue to increase the annual salary budget by 18 percent.

Oil workers indicate that the average salary is 60 thousand lek, while they are asking for it to go up to 100 thousand lek per month.

The work will be stopped from 07:00 the next morning, which is expected to cause major economic damage to the company. This is the fourth protest organized by the Bankers' Union during 2025. No solution has been offered to their demands, so today they took the extraordinary decision to go on a hunger strike.

The oil workers' protest in Marinëz, Fier comes in a context where "Bankers Petroleum" is involved in an investigation by SPAK.
