Fiks Fare broadcast yesterday evening the denunciation of Eljana Koçi, who accused both the emergency doctors and the cardiologist of negligence, which led to the loss of her 62-year-old mother's life in the hospital.
From what Fiks Fare broadcasted, it was seen that due to the negligence of the doctors to provide medical help at the right time, the deceased lost her life from a heart attack.
But the irresponsibility of the Durrës Regional Hospital staff goes even further, since the medical record of the deceased ends up in the hands of a lawyer without the knowledge of the family members. The lawyer informs the family members to go and get the medical record.
In a conversation between the daughter of the deceased and the lawyer, the latter explains that he found the card under the door of his office.
Eljana goes to the hospital, where the director first tells her that the card was taken by a relative of the family. Then he comes out with another version where he says that he will find the culprit and the reason why the card was taken out of the hospital. The director of the hospital showed the name of the lady who had withdrawn the card, not being a relative of the victim as claimed by Eljana, the director of the hospital said that he would follow the case legally. A patient's medical record can only be retrieved by family members and no one else, and each individual's personal data is protected by law.
Eljana contacts the lady who withdrew her deceased mother's card, the latter claims that the hospital gave it to her. "I asked for my husband's card, I went and they gave me this," she explains to Eljana.
In these conditions, Eljana turns again to the Durrës Regional Hospital and to the personnel who issued her mother's card. She was the secretary of the hospital and explains that it was all a human error, it was not done with malice "Kill me if you want, we did it unintentionally".
