The Carabinieri of Bari arrested a 21-year-old Albanian man in flagrante delicto on charges of drug trafficking.

The young man was traveling through the city, but lives in the Bergamo area. At the Bari Nord toll booth, Carabinieri officers stopped the driver of a high-powered car coming from northern Italy, specifically from Osio Sopra.

The suspicious behavior prompted officers to conduct further investigations. During the investigation, with the help of Carabinieri officers from the Modugno Dog Unit and the sniffer dog “Eros”, they found a fake bottom with a double lock, activated by an electronic device, hidden under the back seat of the car.

With the final false opening, officers found almost 6 kg of cocaine, divided into packages, and 18,100 euros in cash, in various denominations. Escorted to the police station and subjected to further investigation, the young man, of Albanian origin, was arrested and transferred to the Bari prison for judicial review.

"The operation, according to a statement issued by the Carabinieri command, confirms the commitment of the Carabinieri to monitor the local area and combat drug trafficking, ensuring security and legality," informs the media of the neighboring country.
