The court is "surrounded"! Murder of judge Astrit Kalaja, today's

A court hearing is being held today to determine the security measure for the three arrested in connection with the murder of Judge Astrit Kalaa, an event that occurred 3 days ago at the Court of Appeals.

Journalist Klodiana Lala reports for BalkanWeb that the hearing against Elvis Shkambi, Gjon Shkambi and Banush Koxhaj is taking place under strict security measures.

Elvis Shkambi is accused of murdering Judge Astrit Kalaja in the courtroom on the afternoon of October 6th.

THE INCIDENT:
The incident occurred on October 7, at the premises of the Court of Appeal in Tirana. At around 1:42 p.m., citizens Elvis Shkambi and Gjon Shkambi entered the courtroom by passing through a scanning device (metal detector), which signaled the presence of metal objects.
Despite the alarm, security officer Banush Koxha did not perform a physical search nor did he record their entry in the protocol book, as provided for by standard procedure.
The two citizens remained in the waiting room until 3:29 p.m., when they entered courtroom no. 3. Just 6 minutes later, at the moment Judge Astrit Kalaja announced the verdict, Elvis Shkambi pulled a pistol from his belt and shot the judge several times.
Kalaja, seriously injured, died during transport to the hospital, despite the first aid provided at the scene.
At the same moment, the perpetrator also shot at citizens Rakip and Ervis Kurtaj, injuring them. Both are in hospital out of danger.
After the attack, the perpetrator left the courtroom, handed the weapon to another court employee and was immediately neutralized and arrested by police forces in the court yard.
