Four people, among them a police officer, have been arrested in Tirana in connection with the patent scandal, as they were suspected of accepting bribes of up to 1,500 euros. They are accused of abuse of office and corruption.
Enis Balla was arrested after the GJKKO sentenced him to 8 months in prison for the criminal offenses "Exercising illegal influence on persons exercising public functions" and "Active corruption of persons exercising public functions" committed in collaboration.
A police officer, Kujtim Xhaja, was arrested after the GJKKO sentenced him to 1 year and 4 months in prison for the criminal offense of "Exercising illegal influence on persons exercising public functions".
Alkid Ndreu was sentenced to 9 months and 25 days of imprisonment for the criminal offenses "Passive corruption of persons exercising public functions" and "Abuse of duty";
While a 28-year-old, Revi Osmani, has been sentenced by GJKKO to 8 months imprisonment for the criminal offenses of "Exercising illegal influence on persons exercising public functions" and "Active corruption of persons exercising public functions" committed in cooperation.
" Specialists of the Section for the Investigation of Economic and Financial Crime, in cooperation with the Section of the Force for Special Operations and Research and the Regional Directorate of the Tirana Police Surveillance Agency, executed the criminal decision for the citizens:
- EB, 40 years old, resident in Tirana, after the Special Court of First Instance for Corruption and Organized Crime has sentenced him to 8 months imprisonment for the criminal offenses of "Exercising illegal influence on persons exercising public functions" and "Corruption active of persons exercising public functions" carried out in cooperation;
- K. Xh., 50 years old, resident in Tirana, (Police employee) after the Special Court of First Instance for Corruption and Organized Crime has sentenced him to 1 year and 4 months of imprisonment for the criminal offense of "Exercising illegal influence" to persons exercising public functions";
- AN, 49 years old, resident in Tirana, after the Special Court of First Instance for Corruption and Organized Crime has sentenced him to 9 months and 25 days of imprisonment for the criminal offenses "Passive corruption of persons exercising public functions" and "Employment of duty";
- RO, 28 years old, after the Special Court of First Instance for Corruption and Organized Crime has sentenced him to 8 months imprisonment for the criminal offenses "Exercising illegal influence on persons exercising public functions" and "Active corruption of persons who exercise public functions" carried out in cooperation." – informs the police.
