'The mud has not been separated from our feet for years'/ 80 families in Banaj of Dimal without roads: We pay local taxes, we don't even have trash cans
Living in the winter for 80 families in Banaj village of Dimal municipality becomes difficult. The unpaved village road fills with water and mud. Children go to school and kindergarten with wet feet. Residents said that they pay local taxes to the municipality of Dimal every year, but they do not receive any services. There are no containers in the village, so the garbage is thrown into the canals.
"We haven't had the mud removed from our feet for years. We pay all the taxes because if we don't pay, the municipality brings employees running to warn us that we will have penalties for delays. Since 2017, our taxes have doubled, but we We don't get any services. We pay taxes for bins, for cleaning, for greenery, but we don't have any of these. There has been no investment in the village since 30 years, residents claim.
This village is known for the production of agricultural products in greenhouses, but they also complain about the lack of cleaning of the irrigation canals.
"We have all invested in greenhouses, laying hoses and plastic pipes privately, to enable bringing water from the river to the ground. This irrigation canal was built as a work of art in 1956, but since 2002 it no longer functions as such" , say the residents.
The residents of the village of Banaj claim that as many times as they have gone to the municipality of Dimal, the mayor Juliana Memaj has refused to meet them. The secretary instructed them to make written complaints, but she never received an answer.
"They come from the municipality, throw a gravel truck and leave, but this is not a solution. The road must be reconstructed and asphalted, the residents emphasize.
