Drugged at the wheel/PIH: The drug reduces the reaction and perception to the

According to INSTAT, in the first 9 months of the year, our roads were covered in 1228 road accidents resulting in the death of 114 people, where in 95% of cases the driver's behavior was the cause. According to road safety experts, in a significant part of the cases, the drivers are under the influence of narcotic drugs, which for the mental health experts at PIH translates into a safe risk as it affects the perception and reaction of the behavior.

"A person who is driving a car under the influence of cannabis has a much slower reaction than a person who is not under the influence of cannabis, and this increases the risk of road accidents. They have a more aggressive behavior at the wheel", said the doctor.

According to ISHP, regular users of cannabis, which is also the most widespread drug in the population, should not return to the wheel until they are rehabilitated from its addiction, as they consider it a long-term risk.

But what experts point to unpredictable consequences are synthetic drugs.

For each individual, the time and way of taking narcotics is decisive for the degree of risk. The more frequent they are, the higher the risk and the earlier the intervention, the closer to rehabilitation./ RTSH
