Blocked in Elbasan, corn from Serbia results in aflatoxin contamination

The National Food Authority has blocked 50 tons of corn intended for livestock feed, following suspicions of contamination with aflatoxin B1, a substance dangerous to animal and human health.
It is reported that two shipments of corn imported from Serbia have resulted after laboratory tests with the presence of aflatoxin B1.
Specifically, 25 tons of corn are awaiting results, while another 25 tons of this quantity are expected to be destroyed, based on the suspicions raised and preliminary checks.
