Executed in the USA/ The victim was the cousin of Elvis Shkëmbi, the author of the murder of Appeals Judge Astrit Kalaja

More details have been made public about the execution of 44-year-old Albanian Francesk Shkambi in Michigan, USA, on Sunday evening.

According to information, he was family related to Elvis Shkambi, the perpetrator of the murder of judge Astrit Kalaja in Tirana on October 6.

Francesk Shkambi was the person who had recently started a GoFundMe campaign to raise funds in support of Elvis and Gjon Shkambi. In the description of the initiative, he was introduced as a family member, while donations amounted to over 8 thousand dollars, intended for "professional legal defense."

According to American media, the incident occurred around 9:30 p.m. on the porch of the Prime 7 restaurant in Commerce Township, where Shkambi worked as a manager and co-owner. He was found seriously injured and, although he was immediately transported to the hospital, he did not survive his injuries.

About 20 minutes later, a 65-year-old Farmington Hills man turned himself in to police and was taken into custody without incident. Authorities seized a 9mm firearm, believed to have been used in the incident, which turned out to be stolen.

Police have confirmed that there was an ongoing altercation between the victim and the perpetrator, although the exact motive for the conflict has not yet been revealed.

Family, colleagues and the local community have received the news with shock, describing Francesk Shkambi as a calm and hardworking man. The restaurant where he worked has announced its temporary closure following the tragic event.
