
VIDEO/ Water takes everything, the moment when the HPP dam in Lukovë breaks

An unusual event occurred this Thursday when the HPP dam in the village of Bunec in the Lukovë Administrative Unit burst and water flooded 12 tourist businesses. Water and mud also blocked the Himara-Saranda road axis.
The HPP dam breach also flooded the electrical substation that supplies Lukovë and Borsh. The two coastal tourist areas are currently in the dark.

Fortunately, there were no human casualties from the incident. The structures of the Himara municipality have intervened to clean up the mud. The Sasaj hydroelectric power plant is supplied by the Kalasa River.
The Ministry of Defense's reaction
At around 12:26 today, the Sasaj reservoir in Bunec, Himara municipality, which was built in 2010, collapsed. At the time of the collapse, there was about 15,000 cubic meters of water. As a result, there is water and mud in 12 businesses in Bunec and the food base of the livestock of 2 families has been damaged. There are no human problems.
The Bunec-Piqeras national road axis has currently been made passable and the structures of the Himara municipality are working to clear the mud. The situation is being monitored by the Vlora prefecture and the civil emergency structures of the Himara municipality.
The Ministry of Defense, the National Civil Protection Agency, and the Armed Forces are always on standby to assist the community.
