Vjosa is polluted by oil/ In some oil wells, waste is discharged into streams

The Vjosa River, known as the last wild river in Europe and declared a National Park, is facing continuous spillage of hydrocarbon waste from the Albpetrol company.

The exclusive footage provided by Top Channel shows the source of Drenova, where the discharge of these toxic wastes begins and ends up in the Gorishova stream and further into the Vjosa river.

The smell of gas is felt as soon as we get up in the morning, says a resident, but the most dangerous is the polluted water that poisons everything, goes to Vjosa and damages the fish, our lands, and even the sea.

The residents of Drenova and Gorishova have repeatedly requested the intervention of the institutions to stop this environmental catastrophe, but their voices have remained unanswered.

Concerned by this situation, the residents demand immediate measures to stop environmental pollution, protecting agricultural lands, sources of drinking water and their lives.//tch
