The Prosecutor's Office at the First Instance Court of General Jurisdiction in Tirana has requested a 23-year prison sentence for citizen Ilir Beqaraj (alias B., alias Mançellari), accused of the murder of Gentian Bejtje, an event that occurred on March 15, 2024 in the village of Larush, Fushë-Krujë.

According to the Prosecutor's Office, investigations into criminal proceedings no. 1944/2024 have revealed that armed individuals broke through the outer perimeter of Bejtje's apartment, entered the yard and shot him several times, causing his instant death. Minutes later, in the village of Hasan, Fushë-Krujë, a Land Rover vehicle, used by the perpetrators to flee the scene, was found burning.

From the evidence administered, the Prosecution says that Ilir Beqaraj was in the area near Bejtje's apartment before the incident, which is confirmed by the GPS data of the vehicle he had rented.

Furthermore, the biological expertise has concluded that in the black Volkswagen Golf vehicle, owned by EH, arrested on March 19, 2024 and used by the perpetrators after burning the Land Rover, the genetic profile of Beqaraj, as well as of persons FP and EH, suspected of having participated in the execution, has been identified.

After investigations, the Prosecution has separated the criminal proceedings against Beqaraj on February 28, 2025, considering him an accomplice and accessory in the murder of Gentian Bejtje.

The prosecution is seeking the conviction of Ilir Beqaraj for three criminal offenses:

-“Premeditated murder” in collaboration – article 78/1 and 25 of the Criminal Code.
Requested sentence: 21 years imprisonment.

-“Unauthorized possession of weapons and ammunition”, in the form of possession in the residence – Article 278/4 of the Criminal Code.
Requested sentence: 2 years imprisonment.

-“Forgery or use of forged documents” – Article 189/1 of the Criminal Code.
Required sentence: 1 year in prison.
