Xhevit Sinani has shown mental health problems. The elderly man, imprisoned for the double murder he committed on January 27, has shown problems, so the presence of a psychiatrist was requested in the prison premises. He consulted with the psychiatrist for almost 20 minutes and is expected to be in constant contact with doctors and specialists in the field. Sinani is expected to be brought to the prison hospital in Tirana for a thorough check-up.
The double crime shocked Gramsci on January 27. Xhevit Sinani killed his wife Zegjine and his brother, Shaqir Sinani. The 80-year-old committed the crime with an axe. Xheviti first killed the woman in the apartment where they lived, while he followed his brother to the grape vineyards. After the crime, he called the children and informed them about the serious incident. He escaped, but was arrested a few hours later by the Police. Sinani has stated that he committed the crime out of jealousy. According to him, his brother harassed his wife.
