After more than seven months since the event that shocked Italy and Albania, the suspected perpetrator of the murder of 22-year-old Albanian Ilaria Sula will appear before Italian justice tomorrow.

The trial of Mark Antony Samson, a 23-year-old of Filipino origin, who has admitted to killing his Albanian ex-girlfriend, will begin in the Third Section of the Serious Crimes Court at the Rome Tribunal.

The gruesome incident took place at the end of March at the Samson family's apartment in Rome. Investigations have revealed that Ilaria was stabbed, while her body was hidden in a suitcase and abandoned in a rocky area on the outskirts of the Italian capital.

The prosecution accuses Samson of premeditated murder and concealment of the body, while the aggravating circumstances are related to the romantic relationship he had with the victim.

The process will also consider the request for the involvement of civil parties. In addition to the girl's family, represented by lawyer Giuseppe Sforza, the "La Sapienza" University, where Ilaria studied, as well as several organizations that protect victims of violence against women, are also seeking to be part of the process.
