EU fines Google, Trump: I will not tolerate attacks on American companies

US President Donald Trump has reacted sharply to the European Commission's decision to fine technology company Google, warning that if the EU does not withdraw, he will respond with punitive trade measures against the European Union.
In a post on his Truth Social platform, Trump writes:
"Europe attacked another major American company today, Google. This will not go unanswered."
He warned that if Brussels does not drop the "unfair" fines against both Google and Apple, then he will be "forced" to activate Section 301, a US legal mechanism that allows the imposition of punitive tariffs on countries that harm US trade interests.
"We cannot allow American ingenuity, unique and unprecedented, to be punished in this way. If that happens, I will initiate Section 301 to reverse these unfair penalties on our tax-paying companies," Trump added.
EU fines Google $2.95 billion
A few hours ago, the European Commission announced a fine of 2.95 billion dollars against Google, accusing it of abusing its dominant position in the digital advertising market. This is the fourth fine that the European Union has imposed on the American technology giant in recent years, as part of investigations into violations of competition rules.
European officials stressed that Google must stop self-favoring practices and avoid conflicts of interest within the ad technology chain.
Despite objections from Google and threats from Trump, the EU has signaled that it will continue to monitor and punish anti-competitive behavior as part of efforts to regulate the European digital market.
