French MP suspended after waving Palestinian flag
France's parliament suspended a left-wing lawmaker for two weeks after he held up a Palestinian flag during a heated debate over whether France should recognize Palestinian citizenship.

Sebastien Delogu, an MP for the France Unbowed (La France Insoumis or LFI) party from the southern city of Marseille, raised the flag during questions to the government.

Parliament speaker Yael Braun-Pivet denounced what she called unacceptable behavior and lawmakers voted to suspend Delog for two weeks and halve his parliamentary allowance for two months.

Delog left the lower house making a V sign for victory as right-wing and center-right lawmakers inside applauded the sanctions against him. Several MPs exchanged heated words outside the hall.
