British Transport Secretary Louise Haigh has resigned. According to British media, she pleaded guilty to falsely reporting the theft of her cellphone to the police in 2013.
In her resignation letter to Prime Minister Keir Starmer, she described the incident as a "mistake" and added that continuing in the post could become a "distraction" from the government's priorities, Skynews writes.
Haigh, who was 24 at the time, first reported her phone as stolen after being the victim of a robbery one night in London. But she later discovered the device was still at her home.
