Germany will allow police to shoot down drones that violate its airspace

Germany will give police the right to shoot down drones that violate airspace, like those that have caused problems at various airports in Europe, Reuters has reported.

Some European leaders have said that these incidents could be part of a hybrid war being waged by Russia.

The new law was approved by the German government on Wednesday and now awaits approval by Parliament.

It allows police to shoot down drones in cases where there is a major threat or danger to people.

Chancellor Friedrich Merz wrote on the social network X that drone incidents threaten the country's security and that he will not allow this.

The new law was proposed after dozens of flights were canceled or delayed at Munich airport last Friday due to suspicious drones.
