Grenell attacks Von der Leyen: How can you give advice on Kosovo when Thaçi is still in prison?

Former US President Donald Trump's special envoy, Richard Grenell, has reacted sharply after the visit of European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen to Kosovo.

In a post on the X platform, Grenell accused Von der Leyen of hypocrisy and silence in the face of the selective justice of the Special Court in The Hague, which has been holding former Kosovo President Hashim Thaçi in prison for five years.

" Your Hague court has held President Thaçi for 5 years. How can you distribute judicial advice to every country ?" Grenell writes.

He further added that Von der Leyen did not react even when prosecutor Jack Smith arrested a sitting president "just because he was going to meet Donald Trump to reach a peace agreement that would affect the work of the court."

Grenell called it "shameful" how international media have ignored, according to him, the "political prosecution" of Thaçi and other leaders of the Kosovo Liberation Army.
