US attack on Colombian ship, President Gustavo Petro says there were citizens on

Colombian President Gustavo Petro has said that a ship recently bombed by the US had Colombian citizens on board before it was attacked.

No evidence or details have yet been provided about who was on board and this attack has been condemned by many countries.

This accusation by the president has been called "baseless" by the White House.

The US has struck at least four ships in the Caribbean in recent weeks, killing 21 people.

The US government has said the attacks in international waters targeted "drug traffickers."

The US Senate rejected a measure on Wednesday that would have barred Donald Trump from using military force against the ships.

Petro responded to a post on X by U.S. Senator Adam Schiff, a Democrat, who said he would vote to block attacks on ships in the Caribbean, as some lawmakers tried to challenge the use of armed forces in Congress.

Meanwhile, the White House has said it is eagerly awaiting President Gustavo Petro's public retraction of his unfounded statement.
