Known also in Albania for clashes with Rama, Rai journalist attacked with bomb

"Last night, an explosive device was placed under the car of the journalist and presenter of Report, Sigfrido Ranucci. The car exploded, also damaging the family's other car and the house next door. The Carabinieri, Digos (Special Operations Unit), firefighters and forensic investigators were at the scene. The competent prosecutor's office has started the necessary investigations and the Prefect has been notified. The power of the explosion was so strong that it could have killed anyone passing by at that moment." This is the dramatic post published on the Report program's profile on social networks.

The attack took place at around 10pm in Campo Ascolano, a town between Rome and Pomezia, south of the capital. The explosion also damaged the family's other car, usually used by the daughter, who had parked it at around 9.40pm.

The journalist's building was also damaged from the outside, but fortunately there were no casualties or injuries. Sigfrido Ranucci spoke to Corriere della Sera shortly after 2:00 am by phone: "My daughter passed in front of my car a few minutes before the explosion, they could have killed her..." According to the presenter, "it may not be a coincidence that a few days ago I announced the topics of Report's new investigations".

Carabinieri and firefighters went to the scene to put out the flames that had engulfed the cars and secure the area. Forensic scientists also intervened. Ranucci reported that "at least one kilogram of explosives was used."

Italian RAI journalist Sigfrido Ranucci is known in Albania for his clashes with Prime Minister Edi Rama, after publishing several investigations on the show "Report".
