Bomb threats prompt some Atlanta precincts to delay voting hours
In Georgia's Fulton County, authorities are expected to seek a court order to extend voting hours at certain precincts that were hit by bomb threats that have not been deemed credible by the FBI.
According to a source familiar with the request, some of these centers may stay open until 7:30 p.m. local time, reports A2.
Also, two polling places in Cobb County will remain open until 7:20 p.m., while another in Gwinnett County may require an extension until 8 p.m.
This change would delay the deadline for reporting the results by one hour, however, most centers are expected to send the results by 19:00, as originally predicted, A2 reports.
The bomb threats, which were received at several Atlanta-area polling places, have not been determined to be true, but they caused a temporary disruption in the voting process.
The authorities have taken the necessary measures to ensure that voting continues safely and smoothly in the future.
