Kremlin against EU and US soldiers in Ukraine, Putin: Any presence of Western troops there will be a target of the Russian military

Russian President Vladimir Putin has said that any presence of Western troops in Ukraine would become a legitimate target for Russian forces.

"If troops were to appear there (in Ukraine), especially now during the fighting, we assume that they will be legitimate targets," Putin said, speaking at the Eastern Economic Forum (EEC) in Vladivostok, in Russia's Far East, a day after a summit of willing countries reached a 26-nation agreement on security guarantees for Kiev.

The Kremlin chief added that deploying a Western force "would not be conducive to long-term peace."
