Crisis within the Republican Party, Trump administration demands release of Epstein files

Senior Trump administration officials were planning a key meeting in the US House of Representatives to force a vote that could lead to the release of Justice Department files related to Jeffrey Epstein, following a series of new documents released by the House Oversight Committee.
The planned meeting would include Attorney General Pam Bondi, Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche, FBI Director Kash Patel and Representative Lauren Boebert, who has demanded that the Justice Department release more information on Epstein and his sex trafficking ring.
Boebert has also signed an effort in the House of Representatives to force a vote on the release of these files.
The files being sought could contain important information related to the investigation into Epstein's sex trafficking ring, including details that have not been made public.
The debate over Epstein and his ties to prominent figures, including Donald Trump, has created divisions within the Republican Party, with some members calling for greater transparency about the investigations.
Trump, who has not been charged with any crime related to Epstein, has denied any wrongdoing. In a summer interview, Ghislaine Maxwell, a key figure in the Epstein case, denied that Trump had committed any wrongdoing.
On Capitol Hill, several House representatives, including Boebert, Marjorie Taylor Greene and Nancy Mace, have signed a joint initiative to force a vote on the release of the files.
They are expected to get the 218 signatures needed to move the effort forward. If they do, the House of Representatives could force a vote on releasing the files, despite opposition from party leadership./ CNN
