Stuck in baggage check machine, 57-year-old woman dies at Chicago airport
A 57-year-old woman died Thursday at Chicago's O'Hare International Airport after getting stuck in a baggage screening machine.

Authorities were told to go to an airport terminal in the early hours of Thursday, while security camera video showed the unfortunate woman entering a restricted area just before 2:30 a.m. the same day.

Around 7:30 a.m., Chicago Fire Department personnel responded to a call about a woman found unconscious. The 57-year-old woman from North Carolina was reportedly entangled in the conveyor belt system, which is used to move luggage, and was pronounced dead at the scene, according to fire officials.

Chicago authorities said the incident was likely a work-related accident, adding that the baggage handling area is not accessible to the public.

The investigation into the death of the 57-year-old woman is ongoing, while it was established from the relevant investigations that she was not an employee of the airport.
