Russia follows the US! Foreign Minister Lavrov: We are working to resume nuclear weapons tests

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov confirmed today (08.11.) that work is underway to fulfill the order given by President Vladimir Putin last week to prepare proposals for a possible Russian nuclear weapons test.

The state news agency TASS quotes Lavrov as saying: "As for President Vladimir Putin's instruction at the Security Council meeting on November 5, it has been accepted for implementation and work is currently underway on it. The public will be informed about the results."

Response to Trump's statement

Putin's order came in response to President Donald Trump's surprise announcement last week that the US would resume nuclear weapons testing for the first time in three decades.

Lavrov told the TASS news agency that Russia had not received any clarification from the US regarding President Donald Trump's order for the US military to resume nuclear tests.

Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform: "Due to other countries testing weapons programs, I have instructed the War Department to equally begin testing our own nuclear weapons. This process will begin immediately."/ DW
