Building engulfed in flames in Kuwait, 49 people lost their lives!

At least 49 people have died after a fire engulfed a building in the city of Mangaf in Kuwait. Among the victims, 40 of them are Indians.

The fire broke out on Wednesday in the building where dozens of workers were staying. In the images published on social media, flames are seen engulfing the lower part of the building and black smoke was coming from the upper floors. About 50 Indians were also injured.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed his condolences to the victims and their families.

"The fire disaster in Kuwait City is sad," he said on X. "I pray for the speedy recovery of the injured."

He said the Indian embassy was monitoring the situation and working with authorities on the ground.

Kirti Vardhan Singh, a junior government minister who left for Kuwait on Thursday morning, said DNA tests were being carried out to identify the victims.

“An Air Force plane is ready. Once the bodies are identified, the next of kin will be informed and our Air Force aircraft will bring back the bodies,” he told news agency ANI.

Kuwaiti Deputy Prime Minister Sheikh Fahad Yusuf al-Sabah accused property owners of greed and said violations of building standards had led to the tragedy.
