Sicily floods, torrential waters carry away vehicles and tables

The Italian region of Sicily has experienced dramatic moments since Friday night, with torrential rains and storms that have flooded roads, swept away vehicles and flooded shops.

The footage shows submerged cars, restaurant tables and chairs "traveling" dozens of meters away.

Water is seen flooding the street as two pedestrians try to protect themselves with umbrellas and boots, as the water reaches their knees.

It should be noted that the ItaliaMeteo Agency issued a warning of a severe meteorological situation and urged residents to stay in their homes whenever possible.

A yellow alert has been issued, as unionesarda reports, in the areas of Iglesia, Campidano, Montevecchio Piscinapiu and Tirso.

The phenomenon was caused by the presence of two fast-moving cyclonic eddies over the Mediterranean: the first has already brought instability to Puglia, Lazio and the lower Tyrrhenian Sea, while the second threatens Sardinia until Sunday, after which it will move south.
