Violent protest in Serbia after the tragedy with 14 dead, the town hall in Novi

Thousands of Serbs have held a grand protest this Thursday in Novi Sad, Serbia after the serious event that happened last week when 14 people lost their lives after the train station terrace collapsed.

The protest started peacefully, but then the situation changed quickly and the protesters went to the town hall building, where they threw stones, breaking the windows.

The Serbian media write that the protesters demand the resignation of the deputies for the serious incident.

We emphasize that the Minister of Construction in the Government of Serbia, Goran Vesić, this morning has officially submitted his resignation, which he announced at last night's press conference.

Meanwhile, the Serbian president, Aleksandar Vučič, from his office reacted by asserting that the protesters have "the right to behave immorally in our country, it is allowed. You have the right to be immoral, but you don't have the right to endanger others. My message is that the police are being very restrained, but don't think that violence is allowed. All those who participated will be punished and prosecuted by the state," said Vucic.

Meanwhile, the police intervened using tear gas and at the end of the protest arrested dozens of people.
