The number of victims from the floods in Spain reaches 224
The death toll from the floods in Spain has risen to 224, while 16 people are still missing, according to the Spanish government.
It added that 216 people have died in Valencia, seven in Castilla La Mancha and one in Andalusia.
The government states that all the victims have been autopsied and that 197 bodies have been handed over to their families.
More than 100 of the 216 deaths recorded so far in Valencia were over 70 years old and nine were minors, according to the official balance of the Data Integration Center made public by the Superior Court of Justice of Valencia.
Of the total number of dead, 131 were men and 85 were women, 190 were of Spanish nationality and another 26 came from 11 other countries.
Of the 26 foreigners who lost their lives, most are from Romania (9), but there are also victims from Morocco (4), China (4), the United Kingdom (2), Ecuador (1), Venezuela (1). , Ukraine (1), Netherlands (1), Tunisia (1), Colombia (1) and Paraguay (1).
The storm in Spain began at the end of October, followed by heavy flooding, which hit the Valencia region the most.
