Ebola outbreak in Congo, several deaths reported

At least 15 people have died in a new outbreak of the Ebola virus in the Democratic Republic of Congo, according to a statement from the country's Health Ministry.
The first confirmed case was a 34-year-old pregnant woman who was taken to hospital last month after developing symptoms including fever, high temperature and persistent vomiting. She died a few hours later from multiple organ failure, the ministry said.
This is the 16th outbreak of Ebola in the Central African country, the BBC reported. The latest case was recorded in the central Kasai province, where a total of 28 infections have been confirmed. Authorities have called for strict implementation of preventive measures, such as regular hand washing and maintaining physical distancing in at-risk areas.
The World Health Organization (WHO) stated that it is taking immediate measures to stop the spread of the virus and protect the population.
