The tragedy in Spain, the number of victims from the floods in Valencia reaches

State weather agency Aemet said four regions, including Valencia, remained on amber alert due to the risk of rain and storms, days after rivers with mud-coloured waters left a trail of destruction.

Aemet warned on Thursday that the unfavorable weather conditions are expected to continue in the following days. "We will send a clear message. The meteorological emergency is not over. The storm still continues over Spain," the agency wrote on social media.

Days after flash floods swept across parts of the country, sweeping away cars and streetlights, the number of people missing remains unknown.

The situation remains dire in many of the affected areas, according to what the Guardian reports .

On Friday, concerns for those still struggling coalesced into a show of solidarity. Thousands of people from unaffected areas in the Valencia region began to show up in the worst-hit areas, offering help. While the roads throughout the region remained blocked.

The regional government tried to dissuade people from going to flood-hit regions: “We are deeply grateful for the assistance that is being provided to the affected population. Please do not travel to these areas as roads are collapsing and emergency services cannot access them."

Earlier this week, more than 1,000 soldiers from Spain's emergency response unit were deployed to Valencia to bolster the efforts of local emergency services.
