Trump: Next week in the US will be declared "Anti-Communism Week"

US President Donald Trump has declared next week as "Anti-Communism Week" in the United States, openly attacking his progressive opponents.
The presidential proclamation, released by the White House, is part of an American tradition in which presidents designate symbolic weeks or days for issues of public importance. However, this week's announcement has sparked debate over its political tone.
In the text of the statement, the 79-year-old Republican calls communism "one of the most destructive ideologies in history." He warns that "today, new voices repeat the same old lies, hidden behind terms like 'social justice' or 'democratic socialism.'"
Trump also mentions Zohra Mamdani, the newly elected mayor of New York, accusing her of representing this political approach. “Their message remains the same: give up your freedoms, trust in the power of government, and trade the promise of prosperity for the empty comfort of control,” Trump wrote in the statement.
The American president has previously called Mamdani a "communist", while in a speech after his election he said that "Americans face a clear choice: between communism and common sense."
