EU leaders will address the Syrian crisis at the December 19 summit

EU heads of state and government will discuss the situation in Syria after the end of Bashar Assad's rule at the final summit of the year on December 19, European Council President Antonio Costa announced.

"Syria will be a topic at the next European Council on December 19," he wrote on his X page.

According to Costa, he remains "in close contact with leaders in the Middle East on this matter, to assess the situation". "Respect for human rights and the protection of minorities, as well as the country's territorial integrity are key for the EU," he added.
