Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy saw the damage up close, pointing out civilian targets damaged by the Russian attack, including homes and the Chernobyl museum built on the 40th anniversary of the explosion just a month ago.

"Only crazy fools can attack this museum and places with no military value," Zelensky said.

He called the attack extremely heavy with 90 missiles of various types, including 36 ballistic missiles and 600 drones.

Kiev's air defenses shot down only a few of them. Most of the hits were in Kiev, the main target of this attack.

Russia has confirmed that the Oreshnik missile, which is said to travel 10 times faster than the speed of sound, was used in the large-scale attack against Ukraine. This is the third time Russia has used the Oreshnik missile in the conflict.
