Zelensky: Only determination can end the war

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy said on Tuesday that "only determination" can end Russia's war in Ukraine and bring lasting peace.
Days after talks with French President Emmanuel Macron and US President-elect Donald Trump, Mr Zelenskiy said working together to end the war is his top priority, and he expressed gratitude to Mr Trump for expressed his strong determination for a just end to the war."
The Ukrainian leader went on to say that he had told Mr Trump that Russian President Vladimir Putin "only fears him and maybe China".
"We know that America has the capacity to accomplish extraordinary things that others have not been able to achieve," said a post by Mr. Zelenski on the X social network. "To succeed in ending this war, we need the unity of America, Europe and everyone else in the world, who value security and can give strong guarantees for peace."
President Zelenskiy's comments come amid growing questions about the level of US support for Ukraine as Washington prepares for the start of President-elect Donald Trump's new term next month.
The United States during President Biden's administration has led efforts to provide billions of dollars in military aid to Ukraine, including munitions and air defense weapons to defend against Russian attacks.
Mr Trump said after meeting Mr Zelenski on Sunday that there should be an immediate ceasefire in Ukraine and the start of negotiations between Ukraine and Russia.
