What do Albanians buy online? Clothes, shoes and accessories, the most popular

In 2024, about 86.2% of individuals in the 16-74 age group use the Internet, with 96.4% of them using it several times a day.
The most used devices to access the Internet are mobile devices with 99.9% of individual users, followed by computers with 29.2%, laptops with 28.5% and tablets with 19.4%.
But which activities carried out through the Internet did Albanians use the most?
According to INSTAT, the activities carried out via the Internet in the "last three months", from the moment of conducting the interview, which have registered the highest increases are e-banking, accessing health data online, reading online news (newspapers or magazines) and online shopping.
One of the most interesting aspects is the growth of online shopping.
In the last 12 months, 42.4% of the 16-74 age group made online purchases, an increase of 4 percentage points compared to last year.
In the last three months, 20.4% of individuals have made purchases online, marking an increase of 1.2 percentage points.
What were the most popular products purchased online?
Top online shopping categories include clothes, shoes and accessories, which account for 90.3% of purchases.
Home delivery services, such as catering from restaurants or fast food, account for 59.7% of online purchases. On the other hand, cosmetics and wellness products account for 41.8% of purchases, while food and beverages from stores account for 37.2%.
Home products account for 33.3% of online purchases, sporting goods account for 32.8%, and electronics and home appliances account for 19.7%.
These statistics show a significant increase in the use of the Internet for shopping, reflecting a trend towards digitization and rapid adaptation of new technologies by the Albanian population./ Scan
