Inflation in September this year appears higher than in August, which reached 2.3%. According to Instat, the summer months, especially influenced by tourism and demand, had a higher price increase rate.

The Consumer Price Index for September 2025 reached 120.3, registering an increase of 2.4%, compared to the same period last year, when it was 1.9%. The monthly change in the Consumer Price Index in September 2025, compared to August 2025 is 0.7%.

The annual price increase was driven mainly by rent and food and non-alcoholic beverages, which contributed 0.83 points and 0.63 points, respectively. Also, prices in the “Furniture, household equipment and home maintenance” group had a positive impact of 0.19 percentage points, prices in the “Alcoholic beverages and tobacco” group by 0.17 percentage points, prices in the “Hotels, cafes and restaurants” group by 0.14 percentage points, prices in the “Entertainment and culture” group by 0.11 percentage points.

Compared to September 2024, the largest price increase is observed in the group "Entertainment and culture" by 4.7%, followed by the groups "Rent, water, fuel and energy" by 4.1%, "Alcoholic beverages and tobacco" by 3.4%, "Furniture, household equipment and home maintenance" by 2.6% and "Hotels, cafes and restaurants" by 2.5%. Also, "Educational services" increased by 2.2%, "Food and non-alcoholic beverages" by 1.8%, "Miscellaneous goods and services" by 1.5%, "Clothing and footwear" by 1.1%, "Communication" by 1.0%, "Health" by 0.6% and "Transport" by 0.4%.

Within the food group, prices of the subgroup "oils and fats" increased by 5.9%, followed by the subgroups "milk, cheese and eggs" by 3.5%, "meat" by 3.2%, "fish" by 2.5%, "fruit" by 1.7%, etc. /SCAN
