Around 196 million euros go to e-government/ The budget for the modernization

Digital infrastructure is becoming as important and vital as physical infrastructure. Now that most government services are delivered online and can be accessed from smartphones, the government is increasing spending on these services.

The investments and improvements demonstrate a strong commitment by the Albanian government to modernize public services and facilitate access to them for citizens and businesses through technology. It should be taken into account here that according to Eurostat data, more than 3 in 4 people in our country have used one of the e-government activities in 2024. Meanwhile, it turns out that this rate in the European Union is 70%.

But how much of the budget for 2026 will go to e-government?

Referring to data from the draft budget report for next year, around 18.99 billion lek or 196 million euros will be allocated for e-government.

Compared to last year, the budget for the modernization and improvement of online governance has increased significantly. We recall that in the previous year's report, the value was around 12.5 billion lek.

We emphasize that e-government includes activities such as interacting with public authorities, obtaining information from authorities' websites, downloading official forms, accessing data or records, accessing personal information, scheduling an appointment or reservation, submitting tax returns, claims or complaints, or even social security benefits./ SCAN
