According to the latest figures published by the "Bank of Albania", it is noted that the year 2024 marks the highest value of new loans disbursed to individuals and private and public non-financial corporations. Thus, during the past year, cash inflows at the level of new loans were fixed at 379.76 billion lek, or about 60.8 billion lek or 19% more than during the year 2023. The total new loans during the past year were distributed among the business, which received 268.89 billion lek, while another 106.7 billion were received by individuals and 4.2 billion by public non-financial corporations.

According to this data, 2024 marks the record year where individuals had the highest financing needs, while 2016 was the year with the lowest level of lending to individuals. As for the private sector, 2024 also recorded a record, marking an increase of 24%.

As for new loans for home purchases by individuals, in 2024 they are set at 54.9 billion lek in total, both in local currency and in euros. The growth is high, compared to previous years.

It is worth noting that December 2024 marked the highest value among other months, but also when compared to the same month in previous years. The total new credit for the last month of the year is estimated at around 47.8 billion lek.

New loans distributed last year in lek predominate over those in euro. Of the new loans for financing individuals, 86.2 billion lek was new loans in the local currency, and about 20.4 billion lek in euro.
